Alex Cross's niece is found brutally murdered. Overcome with grief, Alex vows to take down her killer before he strikes again. But shortly after he begins the investigation, Alex discovers that his niece had gotten mixed up with some very important, very dangerous people. And she's not the only one who has disappeared.

The hunt for the murderer leads Alex and his girlfriend, Detective Brianna Stone, to Washington's most infamous club--a place where every fantasy is possible, if you have the credentials to get in. The killer could be one of their patrons, one of Washington's elite who will do anything to keep their secrets buried.

With astonishing plot twists and electrifying revelations that will keep readers on the edge of their seat, I, ALEX CROSS is James Patterson's most suspenseful Alex Cross novel yet. (From Amazon)

Alex Cross is back! As he celebrates what he hopes is a quiet birthday with his family, he gets a phone call that will shatter his world. His beloved niece has been murdered. Alex pushes aside his grief to hunt down the animal that killed her. While checking out her apartment, he finds out things about his niece he never imagined. He also finds a date book with some type of code. Alex, with help from his girlfriend Bree and long time partner Sampson, set out to crack the code in hopes of finding out exactly what his niece had gotten involved with. And what if she's not the only one to have met this gruesome fate?

What Alex finds out could rock the entire country to its core. They find their way to a very exclusive, very privileged, very high class and extremely private club. A place where all of your fantasies can come true. Where some of the members will stop at nothing to keep what goes on at the club quiet. Especially the sick fiend who is killing these women. But nothing, not the FBI backing off, not a meeting with a Secret Service agent, not even a meeting with the President herself, will stop Alex from finding out who murdered his niece.

And to make matters even worse, Alex and his family are dealing with something even more personal and crushing. Something that every fan of the Alex Cross series never thought they'd see.

From the backwoods of Virginia to Capital Hill and the White House itself, you'll find yourself immersed in a story so full of twists and turns you would think you were on a roller coaster. With an ending so astonishing it will leave you heart racing, your mind reeling and the rest of you dying for more.

I have only read Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider in the Alex Cross series. I will probably get on it once I catch up more in the Women's Murder Club and Maximum Ride Series.
