Eggs in Purgatory

Suzanne, Toni, and Petra lose their husbands but find independence when they open the Cackleberry Club. Then their cozy cafe becomes the scene of a crime when a lawyer dies with a secret on his lips and egg on his face. What this all has to do with a religious cult and Suzanne’s past could put her own life on the line.

What a wonderful beginning to a new series. For one reason or another, Suzanne, Toni & Petra have all lost their husbands but find out who they really are by opening a wonderful place called Cackleberry Club. Not only is CC a restaurant that also serves as a tea shoppe in the afternoon, but it's also a bookstore and a knitting shoppe. When Suzanne find her lawyer dead in the parking lot she decides she must find out who killed him. Then there is a second murder and Suzanne finds herself a potential target. The main character is very realistic and has a well formed supporting cast. There is an "actual" reason for Suzanne to get involved and she works in a logical way to get at the information she is so desperately seeking. The author throws plenty of potential legitimate suspects at the readers to prevent them from figuring out "who done it" to early in the book. Cackleberry Club was a fun read and sounds like a really fun place to visit. I can't wait to go back there again. A.

I've read one of her cozies before and I have to admit to being slightly curious about this one.
