Guest Post ~ Julia London

Thank you so much for having me here and allowing me to bring ONE SEASON OF SUNSHINE to your followers. This book started out as a woman’s journey of self-discovery: Jane goes in search of her birthmother to find out why she gave her up. She takes a job as a nanny for a widower with two children, and quickly finds herself falling for the three of them. But then secrets began to emerge about the family, and most shocking of all, the secrets may have implications for Jane’s search.

I guess I am what one would call an organic writer, because my ideas are never very big at the onset. This one started with a very simple idea—a woman goes in search of her birth mother to find out why she gave her up—but it mushroomed into so much more than that. I realized at some point that it had become a book about how our past, good or bad, known or unknown, influences us. The story threads were almost too big for one book. There was the promise of a book about the twelve year-old girl who wants to hold on to the memories she has of her dead mother, even when she is beginning to see some cracks in the picture. There was the hint of a book about a man who doesn’t know who he is anymore, because responsibilities have pounded the life out of him. There is another shadow of a book about the mother whose daughter died, and how she tries to keep her fingers in the life of a family that was moving on without her. And of course there was the whole, nanny-and-the-employer forbidden attraction novel.

All of these characters could have spun out into their own books with their own set of problems, so the task became corralling them all back into one novel about a woman how goes in search of her past. I can say that this book probably took more out of me than any other book has taken, and when it was done, I was the first one to read it to see which novel it had become.

Does Jane find the truth about herself? Yes. But the answers are not easy or expected.

I really hope you like the results. Thank you so much for having me!

Should some questions be left unanswered?

Adopted as an infant, Jane Aaron longs to know the identity of her birth mother and why she gave her up. Her only clue is the name of the small Texas town where she was born, so she’s come to Cedar Springs for answers.

Handsome ad executive Asher Price lost his wife, the beautiful, mysterious Susanna, in a terrible car crash eighteen months ago. When he hires Jane as the nanny for his two children, sparks fly. Jane finds herself falling in love with both Asher and his children, but begins to suspect that Susanna was not the perfect mother and wife the family portrays her to have been.

As Jane gets closer and closer to finding out the truth about both her own and Susanna’s past, devastating secrets begin to emerge that may be more than anyone can bear. Will the truth bring Jane and Asher closer together or tear them apart forever?
